What Is It?

I was down in the garden picking my peonys, including this weird,  hybrid, triple-layer one, when I heard a frightened scream.

It wasn't the dogs, but they had cornered something very loud in a retaining wall. I checked to see if I could locate whatever was screaming so. I then went to the house with my bouquet and to grab my camera.
By the time I got back, there was a pair of hawks and a flock of buzzards also interested in the screaming. Unfortunately pictures of them blurred.
Enough with the pictures, what ever it was, with the amount of noise it made, I figured it had to be fairly large and probably had teeth to go with it. Koyuk's nose was in peril of becoming more scared and my retaining was was being disassembled.
Into the house with everyone so the mystery screamer could escape and I could create the first peony arrangement of the season.

Play Date with Oscar, Toby and Raven

Marleen brought Chinooks Oscar and Toby and Husky Raven by for a play date on their way back from mushing school in southern Oregon. From the moment they got out of the car and for the next 45 minutes, it was non-stop, excited zoomies.

 All 6 dogs in action.
A brief quiet moment for Koyuk and Oscar. (She stopped so fast, her ears flew up).
Then off again on the chase.
By the time they left, Koyuk, Cedar and McKenzie were quite muddy.
The best way to get clay muck off - swim.

Successful play date! My three dogs are now clean, dry and sound asleep. Somewhere on I-5 North between here and Seattle, I am certain the other three, while a bit muddy, are also happily sound asleep.

Koyuk's Whelping Box

My wonderful friend Sarah brought back the shinny, refitted whelping box. She had originally made this box for Cedar. I had asked her to re-size it for a better x-pen fit. She not only made it 1/2" smaller but she added all sorts of fancy additions and a new door for Koyuk.

 The girls approve!

Making Puppies

Sunday evening Koyuk and I arrived at Marleen's for her date with Oscar.
"Can we do it now mom?"
This was Oscar's one quiet moment for the next three days.
Monday, with a little human assistance, they made puppies. We had a big laugh at their heart shaped shadow.
Between trysts, Koyuk and I spent hours on the upper deck. Me with a good book and coffee or wine depending upon the time of day. Her impatiently lusting.
"Romeo - Oh Romeo - Where fore art thou..."

Lady in waiting.
Play time.
Horney Koyuk even tried to entice  neutered Toby.
A joint howl-in to celebrate success.

Koyuk Is No Longer A Virgin

Koyuk is no longer a virgin - either is Oscar.
Oscar and Koyuk have mated. Pictures will have to follow. I can't figure out how to put pictures on my blog while up here in Seattle.

Lupin Family Visit

Lupin and her human family came for a visit today. McKenzie was so excited when she realized they were here, Roo-Rooing all the way, she practically fell down the stairs in her rush to get outside to see daughter Lupin Only after chasing each other around for about an hour could I get them all to sit still for a picture.
