Day 29 Chinook Centennial Litter Pup-date

No whelping box escapes last night - yea! Not much new today. Same old:
Eat...
Koyuk has decided that weaning the little ones is the better deal...
she no longer has to lie quietly for the little sharks and...
she gets more than her share of puppy gruel.
Koyuk making her escape after she has licked the feeding trough clean.
Koyuk is no longer eager to jump into the pup-pen...
but the pups, especially Kate, are eager to get to her.
How can she resist those faces?
 Sleep...
 Big yawn from Kate
This must be what it was like all crammed inside Koyuk.

"If mom is going to get all of our kibble-gruel, we deserve a turn at the milkbar".
The temperature reached 92 so I brought the little ones in early. Mealtime on the grass is much preferred by me. It creates no laundry. I was holding Koyuk, who had just eaten her dinner, back as I took these pictures. I wanted to make sure the puppies had their fill.
I let her in when they backed away from the feeding trough but apparently they decided there is always room for mom's milk.
Puppies were unceremoniously dropped off with each re-positioning around the trough.
Then it was a race to latch on again before she leaves.
The puppies are getting more aggressive in their play and sleeping less. They love snuggles and rush over to be picked up. Paper training is successful beyond my wildest dreams. Just as I have greatly missed Koyuk's obsessive cleaning up after the pups, the puppies and I are going to miss her nursing. I hope he doesn't totally cut them off.
