Day 31 Chinook Centennial Litter Pup-date

What a beautiful day. The temperature was moderate and the smoke was elsewhere AND we had special company.
Quiet morning in the whelping box. Both Koyuk and I approve of the new multi-room, pup-condo. The "bedroom" was completely dry. The puppies are doing an amazing job of seeking out the newspaper when they need to go and leaving the sleeping area clean.
Koyuk taunted the little ones by lying outside the pup-pen.  If she was going to go in and be mauled, there had better be puppy gruel in there for her to make it worth it.
 Breakfast.
I am not quite sure how Treadwell managed to get puppy gruel all over his back before he even made it to the trough. Must have been a passing brotherly paw or kiss.
The puppies did not leave much for Koyuk to clean-up.
After lunch nap time. Trask chose the shade under a tree.
Koyuk and the pups chose the shade of the pup-den
Cedar rarely chooses shade, preferring to roast on the south facing patio.
I even got a sound nap this afternoon while Dave took over puppy watch.
Dinner
January 2004 the Harrison family picked up Suka from McKenzie's first litter. At the time, the boys were toddlers and more interested in locking each other in the wire crate and playing on the stairs than puppies.
Today was college orientation and their first visit with Kate who will become part of their family. They came baring bully sticks for the dogs, a sign for the whelping condo and fine wine to assist with my need for sleep.

Room for everyone in the Pup-den
Every morning I completely strip the whelping box and replace with a flooring of clean linens and towels. Today very large towels were drying on the clothes line so I put in an assortment of smaller towels. Within minutes of moving back inside for the night, the puppies re-purposed their bedding into tug toys.
Of course a couple hours later when Koyuk wanted to go in to nurse, she insisted that all the towels be put back into a smooth bed. But she had no complaints about the fact that the well used potty area is now several feet away from her nursing area.

Now for a glass of wine to tide me until the midnight feeding then a pillow.
