7 Course Dinner With A Show

Several evenings, when the seas were calm, the head chef prepared a special invitation dinner for about 20 passengers. Seating was in the Tupaia, on the 7th deck, just off from the library. The wine steward added complementing wines. The head waiter served us. And the pastry chef prepared an amazing desert. I am disappointed I did not get a copy of the menu or pictures. I can honestly say that I have never had any of the foods on my plates prepared remotely in the same way. Each course reflected something about our expedition, the head chef, the steward, the pastry chef and the head waiter. Everything was over the top and unexpected.

While we ate, Ma Nature provided the ambiance as we traveled back through the Lemaire Channel.

Our dinner was interrupted about course 5 by the appearance of our sister ship the Endurance. Decorum went out the window (on to the deck). All passengers and crew were out on deck with waves and shouts. Many of the crew had worked on the Endurance and most had friends there.

The Tupaia is in the stern of the boat. During the dessert, Ma Nature added glory to the day.

The end of another amazing day in Antarctica.
