One Run - Two Climates

Yesterday afternoon the sun finally started to break through the thick fog as we headed out for our training run. The north side of the ridge is shaded in all but the summer months. The moss is beautiful and thick.
When you break over the ridge and down the south side, the climate is completely different. Enough so that the trees are mostly pines and oak rather than fir. With all the recent rains, the ground cover is starting to turn green.
Cedar and Trask loving of the downhill grade.
This was Trask's first trip to the south side pond and first swim.
Cooled off, it was time to run back up and over the ridge.
 Trask on top.
Koyuk back into the lush green of the north side.
Cedar behind one of the trees I removed from the trail.
There are three Chinooks in this picture but even with their "visibility" coats, they disappear into the verdant fog.

Greg and Tule Finally Get to Mush

Greg and Tule joined Cedar, Koyuk, Trask and me for our second run of this snowless winter. The new sled also got her maiden run.
To say Trask was excited to get going would be an understatement.
Greg and Tule waiting for the others to get harnessed.
Play was on the minds of Trask and Tule. Getting started as two teams was a bit of a challenge.
We finally got everyone's attention toward down the trail and I was off.
Cedar showing grandson Trask how to keep a taught line.
Koyuk and daughter Tule Loowit catching up with us.
After a few hundred yards and frequent tangles, it became obvious that the two teams needed to be joined as one.
Greg with the combined teams took off like a rocket and didn't slow down enough for me to catch the sled as it went by.
Introducing Team Nookies with Greg on the runners and me riding on the sled - life is Wonderful.
A couple miles later, I picked up my abandoned sled and Greg took Team Nookies back to the van.
Tired but happy dogs at the end of their first run.

About Time Pupdate

As with everything else, I am behind on my monthly Pupdate. Here are some of the pictures that were sent to me by Cascade Peaks litter families during January and February.

Oscar at Westminster

No power. Muddy drinking water. No heat. No septic. The Olympics. All reasonable excuses to be way behind on the blog. Today I have to dig a larger hole down to the septic tank, put in the riser and lid then fill it all back in and the heat pump guys are here. But, it is raining right now so time for blog work.
After missing his flight do to the Seahawks Super Bowl Celebration blocking roads, Oscar did indeed make it to the Westminster Dog Show in New York City where after his first long flight he had his first taxi and subway rides.
Oscar meeting the press
Being shown in the ring
 Winning "Select Dog"
And what must be the worlds fanciest canine bathroom.
