Snowpocolypas March 10 - 17

Once again it is difficult to keep the days from running together. Photo date-stamps came to the rescue for this post.
Sunday March 10
Temperature is 26 degrees and this morning we had 9" snow on the undisturbed, south facing patio.
The north side of the house was another story.
Years ago one of my Camp Fire Girls gave me an ornate iron, "Let it Snow" sled. Every year I hang it by the door in November in hopes it will bring snow. Usually the sign-sled is stored away by now and the summer baskets are brought out of the greenhouse to hang on the front porch.
The Let-it-Snow sled along with much used snow removal tools and my skis.
Vineman remains partially buried.
The road. Those ruts are hard and icy. Driving is a blast but does require both hands on the wheel.
The pond.
Monday March 11
Morning pond picture. Town is pretty much snow free.
Koyuk seems to be saying: "What do you mean more snow is expected?"
Tuesday March 12
Today was momentous.
After two positive tests in a row, a third today showed that I am cancer free. On the way home from the clinic, I drove the property line to check for fence damage. We have quite a bit of work ahead of us this summer.

Today was also the death of Joe Brown. He died on his 90th birthday. Joe lived in a house on the property and managed the forested areas. He planted most of the evergreen trees currently growing on the property. Using horses for years then a skidder, he only "selectively logged". His passion was that the woods remain intact.
And today, the sun shown on my glow globe making it light for the first time since last fall when the sun hid behind the ridge and then it became entombed in snow.
Wednesday March 13
I could not sleep last night after the events of yesterday. Around 0200 I decided to go out to the hot tub rather than tossing about in bed.  After stripping down and going outside in the 26 degree chill, I realized that there was still 4" of snow with a layer of ice underneath on top of the hot tub cover. I hoped the water would be hot once I was able to  get to the tub itself. It was.

Stars, a sliver of a moon and the globe all brightened the snow covered ground. I laid there  reflecting about Dave and my life without him. All my troubles, future, life challenges and joys are now totally on me. I am about to move forward. My life will be as I make it. All of this unencumbered meditation did come to an abrupt end when I had to step, bare foot, into the snow and ice I had removed from the hot tub to again replace the cover.
Snow remaining in the morning...
and after a nap, in the afternoon.
Thursday March 14
The morning snow pack with heavy frost on the roof. Yesterday's warm day melted a lot of the snow.

Someone pointed out that this is National Napping Dog...
the dogs took it to heart.
Today is also Koyuk's 9th birthday.

Friday March 15
At least this time Trask is rolling in clean snow. Still too much snow in the yard to bother pruning shrubs and trees so the day was dedicated to starting the road clean-up.
Sunday March 17
For all who wonder, yes we still have snow. I spent most of today finishing cleaning up the road. I have now added 5 dump loads of branches to the burn pile and expanded my road grading skills.
The day ended with sharing a wonderful evening and BBQ dinner with new neighbors. I haven't talked that much in months. We all have a lot of storm damage to clean-up around here. I love the way neighbors are pitching in resources to help each other. Even more I love having two new friends.
