Christmas Eve

Throughout the day, the barometer continued to drop and was once again down to 742. While we ate Christmas Eve dinner and for the rest of the evening/night, we headed back N then NE, back through Erebus and Terror Gulf; to Fridjof Sound; between Anderson Island and Tabarin Peninsula and; back into the Antarctics Straight.

Icebergs crowded during our passage. Sightings of Emperor Penguins became frequent. After dinner I went up to the Ice Lounge and continued to take pictures for a few hours. Roger must have drawn short straw. He was working the bar instead of being below with the rest of the crew.

The fine wine and awesome beauty kept me clicking away.

As the sun became low, the winds picked up. My notes for the evening: "Too rocky to edit pictures. Merry Christmas Eve."
This is not the famous Ronie Ice Shield. These are several hundred feet high ice bergs that broke off from it and have floated north.

I was rocked to sleep with visions of ginger taffy in my head.
