Day 47 Chinook Centennial Litter Pup-date

If it wasn't Chinook's Centennial birthday this definitely would have been the Smoky Furnace litter. The poor puppies were in and out today as the smoke waxed and waned and my ears tolerated less and less of their shrieks of protest at being confined to the whelping box.
Meals were outside. Prior to them eating, I sprayed the puppies with the hose used to add water to the kibble.
Koyuk was torn between her need to clean off the puppies and eat.
Eating did prevail. Byrd searching for the last kibble bit...
while the others drained the milkbar.
More obstacles were added to the Pup-corral. I first put in the agility broad jump. "NO biggy" to the fearless pups. They were all over it in spite of the slack slanting boards with variable heights...
so I mixed them up a bit.
Next came a small tunnel - or chew toy if you are a puppy.
Since the broad jump boards proved to be little more of an obstacle than a speed bump, I isolated the highest one as a slanty board walk.
I turned the others into a teeter-totter. My hope was that with the upright ends, pups wouldn't get injured when the teeter came down on them...
instead it became a new hidy-hole.
While outside the pups did enjoy a lot of rough housing and running.
The temp rose to 99 degrees. They involuntarily spent time in the kiddie pool whenever I could catch them.
Both Trask and Koyuk spent a lot of time playing with the puppies today.
Trask did let them know that they could not nurse on him.
Byrd was the first to actually explore the ramp into the pool.
Then Washington gave it a try...
 urged on by his siblings.
 "come on - jump!"
Byrd was also the first to explore the inside of the tunnel where he promptly fell asleep...
but eventually was awakened by brothers using it as a wrestling platform.
Byrd - the first to conquer the the tunnel.
Byrd has mellowed during the past couple of days. He is trying his best to totally win me over - and succeeding. He even fell asleep in my lap three times today. The last to be awakened by the motion- sensor light letting me know that it was dark and the puppy laundry was still hanging. Such a sweet way to take a nap.
