St. Patricks Day

Peace has descended upon the BrownStone kennel. Today is St. Patrick's Day and the anticipated earliest whelping day for the Iditarod liter.

All of us got a few hours of uninterrupted sleep until Kitty decided to take a look at the pups. Kitty has always had a special relationship with Cedar. Her day usually includes a bath given by Cedar. This morning Cedar did not welcome her feline friend. She jumped up thus dropping the little nursing ones. The calamity of noise brought Willy and McKenzie into the frey and awoke me. I used the turmoil to my advantage and changed the whelping box linens to festive green for the St. Pats. With Kitty banished, silence broken only by the quiet ump-ump nicking sounds of the pups nursing, has returned.

Macky is already in Nome for a fourth win but like those still on the trail, the Iditarod litter goes forth.
