Day 38

I was concerned the puppies would end up going for a swim in the dog pool since a leaky hose had fulled it full of water. Instead they used it as a water bowl however...
Pahto and Mazama found their way to the pond and proceeded to slip down the bank, fall in, and not be able to get back out and up. This was the first time I have been thankful for their very loud voices. Both Koyuk and I went running. I went into the water to pull them to safety. Koyuk took charge of dry-cleaning and comfort.
 Wet but OK.

Tomorrow is the big party. The puppies had to give up their shade shelter for a couple of days. I gave up taking puppy pictures to get the place ready.

Day 37 - Puppy Play and Other Cuteness

Last night something outside the house completely freaked out the dogs. I have never seen them so anxious and in Koyuk's case, frantic. Of course the puppies added to the pandemonium. There have been cougar with cub and bear sightings near here recently. I was afraid puppy squeals and smell brought a predator to the yard. This morning while I did chores, rather than let them run free, I kept the puppies in their play x-pen.
 Koyuk monitoring the little ones.
Mindy also heard the ruckus and something outside her caboose.
The puppies love Mindy.
 Time for brunch and freedom.
Anything and everything is fair game for chewing on right now including: Mindy's fingers, each other...
my camera strap (while I am taking pictures)..

mom's tongue and...
 mom's ear.
 Now for just plain cuteness.

BrownStone Cascade Peaks Litter Week 5

I had an ulterior motive in letting the puppies run free and play all day. I was on my own to take the weekly pictures - a chore best done with at least four hands. I worked. The puppies did not move. It didn't work, the puppies did not move.
Koyuk helping me wake up Wy'east for his portrait.
Did not work. Sound asleep Wy'east, 6.5 lbs.
 Barely awake Loowit, 5.5 lbs.
Out for the count Pahto, 6 obs.
 Barely standing Karuk, 6 lbs.
Quick pose for Klah, 6 lbs.
 Coy Koma, 6.5 lbs
 Totally propped, Mazama, 6 lbs
Finally one awake. Ms Moonsong Silver 4 lbs.
*weights from now on will be on a human scale with 0.5lb increments.

Day 36 - Outside Play

Eighty-six degrees and thunder showers. I decided the little poopers needed to be outside today. When the downpours started, I just put them in their covered x-pen play area and listened to them wail to be let free.
Koyuk seems to be thinking: "missing one"...
and "I can take it, I can take it, ouch, I can take it."
She was actually bleeding from a tooth cut along her nipple.
Moonsong Cedar River (Cedar) and Moonsong Ms Silver.
 Nookies from Loowit.
 Pahto discovered apples.
 Loowit pretty in Pink.
 Studly Wy'east.
The only time Karuk was slow enough to get a picture.
 Koma
 Klah
 Mazama out for the count.
Eat, play, sleep, eat... I keep telling Koyuk it is OK to stop nursing but Ma Nature has a hold on her.
New surface for the day: old wood pile. Karuk and Pahto are checking out the new playground.
 Klah enjoying climbing and tasting.
 Nookies for Cedar from Pahto.
Koyuk finally got to play with the kids.
 Take down.
Time to go in. McKenzie leading the way to dinner.
