Day 22 - Solid Food

The puppies have lots of sharp teeth - frightening teeth. Poor Koyuk. Instinct says to feed her kids. Sore boobs say "no way". Bag balm is only providing so much soothing. Last night before each feeding, Koyuk loudly whined until the crying puppies and engorged breasts finally forced her into the whelping box. She was so distraught she quit eating. Time to intervene and start the puppies on solid food.
In theory, mom is to be kept out of the whelping box while the puppies are eating and then allowed in to clean up the mess. Koyuk was so hungry that there was no keeping her away from the feeding trough.
Navy Boy took advantage of distracted mom for a meal at the milk bar.
These guys actually spent way less time slipping around inside the trough that  previous litters.
Ms Silver with a full tummy and face for mom to clean.

Lunch was so successful, I decided to add dinner to the menu.
 Cleaning Koma's face.
Koma grabbed a sneaky suck as Koyuk went in to clean up the others.
After their bath and being nursed, the puppies were down and out.
