Day 35

I thought I had the puppies almost weaned and on kibble. Koyuk thought differently. She wanted to nurse every three hours throughout the night even though the pups were not fussing because of hunger. They were usually asleep until she started whining to nurse. The food trough is 1/2 full of kibble during this 0300 feeding.  We were up at 2400, 0300 and 0600.  She will only nurse if the x-pen is clean. After changing the papers, I  let her in. Then I stayed up until the pups had played, pooped and gone back to sleep when, I would again change the papers. You'd think she would want relief from all those sharp teeth and lack of sleep.
During the day the pups played outside. The 2" deep pool was in their x-pen area. They were so much fun to watch as they climbed in and out for drinks and to play. They also tried out new toys but limbs of peers remain the favorite for chewing.
This afternoon Greg came over to pup-sit while I ran errands. We let the pups out of the x-pen play area. These guys move fast and with determination. Keeping track of them when they are running free is a full time job.
Stairs were never an issue with these pups. Their confidence and strength continues to amaze me. Not one has hesitated going up or down stairs or over any obstacle. To keep them out of the house I placed the coffee table on it's side as a formidable barrier they could not surmount (for now).
